LeRoy A. Thelen, 82, Kenmare, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

LeRoy was born on March 25, 1925, in Kenmare, ND the son of Nicholas and Anna (Opitz) Thelen. He was reared in Kenmare and attended country school in Elmdale Township. He worked on the family farmstead before the entered the United States Army on June 27, 1944, serving during World War II LeRoy was honorably discharged on July 7, 1946. After his discharge LeRoy went to work for the Farmers Union Creamery in Kenmare where he worked for a number of years. LeRoy later worked for the Soo Line Railroad until his retirement. He continued to live in Kenmare. LeRoy was once married to Delores Johnson.

LeRoy was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kenmare.

Survivors: son, Rodney (Fanny) Thelen, San Diego, CA; daughter, Janice Edwards, Billings, MT; brother, Vernon Thelen, Kenmare; sisters, Bernice Johnson, Kenmare and Genevieve Bauer, Wolf Point, MT; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Anna.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Kenmare.

Visitation and Vigil Prayer Service: Monday, March 17, 2008, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at the church.

Burial: St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Kenmare.
