Sharon Thacker 1946 - 2010

Sharon Thacker PhotoSharon Thacker, 64, Minot, ND, passed away into the care of our Lord on Monday, September 6, 2010, at ManorCare Health Services in Minot.

Sharon E. Brown was born January 20, 1946, in Northwood, ND, a daughter of Robert and Geneva (Bang) Brown. She was raised in Orr, ND, with her two brothers, Richard and James, and was educated there.

Sharon married Dennis Yoney October 4, 1971, in Petersburg, ND. Sharon raised her four children, Rhonda and Shane Barta and Tyrone and Travis Yoney, in eastern ND. Dennis passed away December 3, 1982.

She later resided in Minot, ND, and then in Colorado Springs, CO. Sharon married Thomas Thacker January 17, 1987. Thomas passed away April 4, 2001. She then moved back to Minot in 2001, where she had resided since.

She had worked as a nurse’s aide and caregiver for most of her adult life. In 1999, she was awarded the ALFA Hero Award. She was a lifelong member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

Sharon was a very caring and loving mother, wife, and friend to many. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her, and held in our hearts forever.

Surviving family includes:  daughter, Rhonda (Thomas) Wood, Grifton, NC; sons, Tyrone Yoney, Colorado Springs, CO; and Travis (Melodi) Yoney, Minot; grandchildren, Amber, Tyler, Taylor, Kayla, Harliegh, and Jaiden; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Alma) Brown, Xenia, Ohio, and James (Melody) Brown, Hagerstown, MD; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as her special cousins, Bev and Wayne Coats, Moose Jaw, Sask, Canada; and her very special friend, Darrel Dockter, Granville;

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Dennis Yoney and Thomas Thacker; and son, Shane Barta.

Memorial Service: Saturday, September 11, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment:
  Petersburg Cemetery, Petersburg, ND, next to her husband, Dennis Yoney, with a special notation placed on her husband, Thomas Thacker’s military headstone at the ND Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.

Visitation: 
There will be no reviewal but friends may sign the book on Friday from 11 am to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

In lieu of flowers, memorials
are preferred.

The graveside service will take place at a later date.
