Harvey H. Teets 1923 - 2003 Harvey was born July 19, 1923, in Minot, ND, the son of Victor and Winnie (Bean) Teets. He was raised on his parent's farm near Logan, ND. He attended Minot Public Schools and graduated from Minot High School in 1941. He entered the United States Navy in 1942, and served in World War II in the South Pacific as a machinist's mate. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946. He returned to North Dakota to help his parents on their family farm. He married Delores Mickelson in 1949, and they continued to farm near Logan until 1956. He went to work for the Peter Kewitt Construction Company, chief contractor in the construction of Minot Air Force Base in Minot. He worked on numerous construction projects in North Dakota and throughout the United States. He retired from the construction industry in 1984. In 1985, Harvey and Delores became custodians and caretakers for the Ward County Historical Society Museum at the ND State Fairgrounds, where he worked until 2001. His wife Delores died in 1997. Harvey continued to live in Minot until the time of his death. He held life membership in the American Legion in Minot. He was a former member of the Ward County Historical Society and the Carpenters Union. As a young man, Harvey was an excellent track athlete and basketball player. Survivors: son, Steven Teets, Sumner, WA; four daughters, Vikie Fraser and husband Don, Minot, Penny Wilgenbusch, Jacksonville, FL, Lesia Lysne and husband Scott, Apple Valley MN, and Lorri Bowers and husband Russ, Tracy, CA; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernus Teets and wife Selma, Minot, and Robert Teets and wife Reva, Collins, MO; several nieces and nephews also survive. His wife Delores and parents preceded him in death. Funeral Service: Thursday, March 27, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot, ND. Visitation: Wednesday, March 26, 2003, from noon to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday prior to service time at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
