James "Jim" Talley
• 1942 - 2007 Jim was born on October 11, 1942, the son of Joe and Marie (Mosolf) Talley in Minot, ND. He was raised and educated in Lansford, ND, being active with the Lansford Cubs basketball team, which participated in many state tournaments, finishing as reserve state champions in 1959, and 3rd place in 1960. Jim graduated from Lansford High School in 1960. He furthered his education at Minot State University, graduating with a teaching degree for Physical education in 1964. He taught school in Karlsruhe and Crosby from 1964-1970. From 1970-1972, Jim worked at the Nekoma Missile site. On April 8, 1962, Jim was united in marriage to Bonnie Torgusen in Lansford. To this union were two children, Shane and Stephanie. In 1972, he moved to the family farm, where he raised quarter horses. On July 7, 1989, he was married to Linda Erickson in Glenburn, ND. They made their home on the farm in Lansford. In 1986, Jim opened up Talley Insurance agency in Kenmare, ND. He continued to operate in Kenmare at the time of his death. Jim enjoyed rock gardens, bowling, working with his horses, farming, hunting, playing on the amateur basketball team Lansford Blue Devils, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and spending summers at Lake Metigoshe. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansford, the Lansford Gun club, Minot Elks lodge, AQHA, North Dakota Horse Show Association in which he showed his Stallion, Whippet Dude, who was reserve grand champion overall in 1982. He was also very active with the Minot State University Beaver Booster club. Surviving relatives include: Wife, Linda Talley, Lansford, ND; children: Shane (Marie) Talley, Horace, ND; Stephanie (Bill) Bennis, Norwich, ND, Kirby (D'Ette) Erickson, Fordville, ND, Cameron (Khristy) Bottineau, Dustin (Jodi) Erickson, Lansford, Celeste Erickson, Glenburn; Brothers: Manaul Talley, Lansford, Clifton Talley, Minot, Curtis (Janice) Talley, Lansford, Lavern (Muriel) Talley, Venice, FL, Rolland (Jane) Talley, Bottineau, Dennis (Marilyn) Talley, New Town, ND; sister: Joan (Bob) Meyer, Wolf Point, MT; 12 grandchildren:3 great grandchildren: Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and sister in law, Doris Talley. Visitation: Sunday, December 9, 2007 from noon until 4:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenburn, ND.
