Doris Eloise Talley (Owen)
1926 - 2002 Doris Eloise Talley (Owen) Doris Talley temporarily left her loved ones in this world on December 26, 2002, to return to the care of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Doris was born on October 19, 1926 in East St Louis, IL, the oldest daughter of Edward Day Owen and Lucille Owen. She graduated from E. St. Louis High School in 1944, and attended Washington University studying business and Spanish. She served as secretary to the Mexican ambassador in Mexico City for a period of 4 years before returning to her home in Illinois. After marrying Manaul in 1959, the family briefly resided in Missouri, before coming to Ohio where Manaul took a job at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. They lived in the New Carlisle, (Ohio) and Medway area from 1960 to 1979, and were active members of St. Mark Lutheran Church, in New Carlisle, OH. Doris was also active in the Cloverdale Road Neighborhood Club, and the Hobby Club from New Carlisle. The family returned to the Talley family's roots in 1979, moving to Lansford, ND, where they built a round fiberglass house, the fulfillment of Manaul's dream. They have resided there since. In Lansford, Doris was secretary and treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church for 13 years, and worked at the Bremer bank for about 11 years. But in recent years, Doris has experienced a significant decline in the quality of her life, having had to endure diabetes and related ailments. She passed away at Trinity Nursing Home, in Minot, ND, with several members of her family with her. The family will receive family only from 11-12 AM, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home on Monday December 30, then the public is welcome for viewing from 12 - 4 PM, and the funeral will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansford, ND, on Tuesday at 11 AM. Immediately following the service there will be a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Meal to follow for all who wish at the new Community Center in Lansford, ND. Doris is survived by her husband of 43 years, Manaul, her son Paul, and his wife, Pauletta, of Huber Heights, OH, her son Todd of Dunseith, ND, her daughter Trina, of Peachtree City, Ga, three sisters, Bonnie Phillips of Kettering, OH, Rose Sandefur and husband Larry of Fairview Heights, Ill, Edna Fugate, and her husband Jack of Dunwoody, Ga. Also, grandchildren, Keith and Jason Talley, step-grandchildren, Melissa Watts and Darryl Young, and four great grandchildren, Austin, Cody, Devin, and Cheyenne.
