Wayne E. Swiatek 1953 - 2009 Wayne Edward Swiatek was born August 5, 1953, a son of Clarence and Wanda (Nawrocki) Swiatek, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was raised and educated in Seymour, Connecticut, and graduated from Seymour High School in 1971. While in high school he lettered in basketball, track and baseball. He then took some college courses in Connecticut, before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He enlisted on January 6, 1972. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was stationed at the Minot Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged January 5, 1976. He served in the Army Reserves from 1977 until September 2, 1983. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed by Mr. Steak and later Northern Bottling Co. in Minot. Wayne married Debra (Edwardson) Johnson December 27, 1983, in Minot, ND. They made their home in Minot, where he was employed at Trinity Hospital as a pharmacy tech. He retired in June of 2007 due to his on-going battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was an avid New York Jets and New York Mets fan. He enjoyed bowling, as he was in a bowling league for 30 years. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, barbecuing, softball, and Bingo, but most of all being with his family and many friends. Wayne loved to entertain his family and many friends with music and conversation. He had a strong passion for music as he could play several instruments and was a music encyclopedia. Wayne was an avid reader who had a large collection of books and movies. These movies were borrowed out to his special friends and family. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our family, special friends, co-workers, and the staff at Trinity Hospital, CancerCare, and Mayo Clinic. His loving family includes: wife of 25 years, Deb, Minot; son, Shane (Mary) Johnson, St. Stephen, MN; daughters, Michele (Rich) Lewellyn, Minot, and Leann Johnson (Kim Kochel) Minot; grandchildren, Randy Pfau, Shane Johnson, Jr., Kylee Lewellyn and Kali Swenson; great-grandchild, Isabella Roll; brothers, Marty (Mickey) Swiatek, Beacon Falls, CT, and Ronald Swiatek, Washington, North Carolina; nephew, Brian Swiatek; niece, Tiffany Swiatek; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and cousins. Special friends, Kevin Lang for 30 years of friendship (twin brothers with different mothers) and also Linda Olson (who took care of his prize dalmatian, Sparks, during the trips back and forth to the Mayo Clinic) Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister, Donna Swiatek.
