Oliver Swensrud 1909 - 2004

Oliver Swensrud, 94, Velva, died Monday, December 6, 2004, at his daughter's home in Minot.

He was born on March 3, 1910, on the family farm south of Verendrye, ND, the son of Iver and Olena (Nordine) Swensrude. He was reared and educated in Verendrye.

He married Eva Pfeilschiefter on September 10, 1938, in Minot, ND. The couple farmed in the Verendrye area until the early 1970's when Oliver retired. After his retirement Oliver and Eva moved into Velva where they continued to reside.

Oliver was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church and the Velva Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Eva, Velva; sons, Orlan D. (Debra) Swensrud, Minot, Donald G. (Galen) Swensrud, Brooklyn Center, MN, Roger L. (Deb) Swensrud, Pittsburgh, PA; daughters, Betty J. Larson, Minot, Shirly A. Belgarde, Granville, ND, and Ronda L. (Arlie) Geyer, Green Bay, WI; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Arthur (Hannah) Swensrud, Buena Park, CA; sisters, Hannah Anfinson, Sawyer, ND, and Agnes (Alf) Larsen, Granville; numerous nieces and nephew and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Eric Swensrud, and Jeffrey Kramer one great-grandchild, Brandi Larson, parents, Iver and Lena Swensrud, brother, Elmer Swensrud and sister, Anna Swensrud.

Funeral service: Saturday, December 11, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.

Visitation: Saturday, December 11, 2004, from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Private Burial: Verendrye Cemetery, Verendrye, ND.

Memorials preferred to Oak Valley Lutheran Church or the Velva Senior Citizens.
