Mildred Brietzke was born on a farm West of Sawyer, ND on April 18, 1926, a daughter of Ernest and Lydia Brietzke. She graduated from Minot High School in 1944. Following her graduation, Mildred moved to Seattle, WA, where she worked for Pacific Tel and Tel. In 1947, she returned to Minot. While in Minot, Mildred worked for Northwest Bell for 5 years and Northwest Clinic for Three years.

On January 27, 1948, Mildred was united in marriage to Marvin L. Swenson. Following their marriage, they lived in Minot. She then became a homemaker, raising the couple’s three children. Marvin died September 5, 2006. Following his death, Mildred continued to live in Minot.

Mildred was a charter member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She loved to travel in their motor home with her husband, Marvin. Together they took their family on many camping trips.

Mildred was always smiling. She was a very kind and giving person, and was always there for her children, grandchildren and friends when they were in need. Her love for children and babies will always be remembered.

Those who shared in her life:
                Children: Perry Swenson, Minot, Joette Brown, Minot, Randy Swenson, Minot; four grandchildren: Charisse Heim, Heather Lathrop, Amber Morsch and Melanie Swenson, five great grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one great-great grandchild;  one sister: Pearl (Erling) Brostuen, Pueblo, CO; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, son-in-law Leo D. Brown Sr. sisters Agnes, Violet, Berniece, Anna, Kathryn, brother Lawrence J. and infant brother Raymond. .

Visitation and prayer service:  Tuesday, February 15, 2011, from noon-7 at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 pm in Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
 
Funeral Service:  Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 11 am at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial:  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
