L. June Swartz, 80, Velva, died Sunday, December 16, 2007 in a Minot hospital.

June was born June 16, 1927, in Velva, ND the daughter of Melvin and Hazel (Wills) Halvorson. She was raised and educated in Velva and graduated from Velva High School in 1946.

On August 14, 1953 June married Merle E. Swartz in Velva, ND. They made their home in Velva, where they raised their family. Together June and Merle enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques. Merle passed away on March 3, 2003.

June was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Velva.

Those who shared in her life, Daughter, Sandra Sherlock and her husband Murray, Voltaire, ND; son, Steven Swartz and his special friend, Vicki, Velva; daughter-in-law, Nancy Swartz, Minot; four grandchildren, Jeff (Brooke) Swartz, Jeremy (Glenda) Swartz, Breanne Sherlock and Shane Sherlock; great grandchildren, Brody and Macey Swartz and Chezney Swartz; one step great-granddaughter, Payton; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Swartz; her son, Allen Swartz; her parents, Melvin and Hazel Halvorson.

Funeral: Friday, December 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, ND.

Visitation and Prayer Service: Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, 2007, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Velva, ND.

Burial: Velva City Cemetery, Velva, ND.
