Bruce A. Sveen 1949- 2003

Bruce A. Sveen, 54, 904 25 ½ Ave NW, Minot, died Thursday, July 10, 2003 in his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born April 9, 1949, in Moorhead, MN, the son of George and Genola (Siebert) Sveen. He was raised and educated in West Fargo and graduated from West Fargo High School in 1967. Immediately following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served two tours during Vietnam. He spent most of his enlisted time at Hill 55, south of Da Nang and also was part of the Tet Offense. He was honorably discharged in April of 1970. He returned to West Fargo and worked for McDonald's Livestock for a short time before going to work for Fargo Glass and Paint.

On March 20, 1976, he married Claudia Knodel. They lived in Minot and Bruce continued his job with Fargo Glass and Paint as a salesman and later worked for Sebby's Flooring, as a manager. His most recent employment was with Tollefson's Carpetland, where he was the manager of the contract division. He received various awards throughout the years. He retired on June 30, 2003, due to ill health.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Beaver Boosters, all of Minot. Bruce was very proud of being a Veteran Marine. He was an avid reader of history and will be missed for his vast knowledge. He loved watching sports of all kinds, especially racing and basketball and enjoyed his daughter's three dogs.

Survivors: Wife, Claudia, Minot; daughters, Jennifer Sveen and Kristen (Drew) Christianson, all of Minot; sisters, Jean (John) Kraft, Bismarck and Ava (Marlowe) Gronbeck, Meriden, Conn. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Genola Sveen and a brother, Brent Sveen.

Funeral: Monday, July 14, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Saturday and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
