Rosella Sundbakken • 1924 - 2011

Rosella Sundbakken, 87, Minot, ND, formerly of Benedict, ND, died Thursday, December 1, 2011, in a Minot hospital. 

Rosella Mercedes Gullickson was born May 5, 1924, a daughter of Tom and Lena (Gullickson) Gullickson, in Evansville, MN.  At the age of eight she moved with her family to Benedict, ND, where she attended rural school.

Rosella married Clifford A. Sundbakken August 27, 1942, in the Parsonage at Max, ND. They made their home on the family farm near Benedict for a few years and then moved to Benedict in 1947. They had lived in Benedict, ND, Philadelphia, PA, Minot, and Dodge, ND, but spent most of their married life in Benedict. In October of 1999, they moved to Minot. Clifford passed away March 9, 2002. She continued to reside in her home in Minot until the time of her death.

She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Benedict. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, baking and cooking. She also enjoyed family gatherings, as family was very important to her.

She was a wonderful mother, full of love for her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Her loving family includes:  daughters, Adriene Miller (Vernon), and Connie (Marvin) Allard; and son, Larry (Marlys) Sundbakken, all of Minot; grandchildren, Cheryl (Brent) Kittleson, Brenda (Willie) Miller-Martinez, Vickie Miller, Traci (Ken) Adam, Kimberly (Bruce) Whittemore, Shelly Emil, Karla (Nick) Sande, Michelle (Justin) Nehring, Melisa Allard, Jason (Melody) Sundbakken, Kerri (Travis) Zablotney, and Nichole (Nathan) Freeman; great-grandchildren, Rachael, Makayla, Shane, Alyssa, Kyndra, Jessica, Lasen, Lane, Kaitlyn, Karlee, Ashlyn, Kristin, Tate, Haeven, Connor and Taylor; great-great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Ozzie, Alanah, and Logan; sisters-in-law, Clarice (Duane) Nelson, Muriel, Alice, and Eunice; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rosella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; great-grandson, Blaine Kittleson; brothers, Arthur (Georgine), Oscar (Lillie), Kenny, Wally and Virgil; and sister, Bernice (Art) Kittleson.

Funeral: Monday, December 5, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, Benedict.

Interment:  Bethania Lutheran Cemetery, Benedict, ND.

Visitation:  Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. 

Memorials: are preferred to Trinity Hospice or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
