Gary G. Stuber, Sr. 1948 - 2008
Gary Glen Stuber was born on August 15, 1948, in Harvey, ND, the son of August and Hilda (Sprenger) Stuber. He was raised and educated in Anamoose and Minot. On August 5, 1968, he was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country, receiving the national defense service medal, Vietnam service medal w/3 bronze service stars, Vietnam campaign medal w/60 device, Purple Heart, and the combat infantryman badge. Gary was honorably discharged on August 11, 1970. Following his discharge, Gary attended surveying school in
Pueblo, Colorado. He was once married to Susan Archuleta. To
this union a son, Gary Jr. was born. In 1979, he returned to
Minot where he worked for Dakota Drug, Gravel Products. In 1982,
Gary began working in Civil Service at the Minot Air Force Base.
On October 1, 1988, he was united in marriage to Joyce (Longie)
Horgeshimer. They made their home in Minot. Gary continued to
work at the base until his death. Gary was a very active member of the Disabled American Veterans
association, where he served as State commander in 2002-2003.
He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign
Wars club, both of Minot. Gary was a member of the St. Leo's
Catholic Church, Minot. He enjoyed playing blackjack and pinochle.
He was a very witty and fun person to be around; he will be missed
by all that knew him. Those who shared in his life: He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, grandson
Gary Stuber III, brother-in-law Paul Cina, best friend Steve
Williams, uncles Harold Sprenger and Edwin Sprenger and his maternal
and paternal grandparents.
