Christ Struksnes 1902 - 2003 Christ H. Struksnes, 101, 305-8th Ave NE, Minot, longtime Minot contractor, died Monday, November 24, 2003, at a Minot nursing home. He was born March 29, 1902, in Randsfjorden, Vest Oppland, Norway, the son of Hans and Rande (Bjone) Struksnes. Christ was reared and educated in Vest Oppland. At the age of 22 Christ traveled to Ellis Island by steamship and then by train to his uncle Hans Bjone in Verona, ND. He worked on his uncle's farm for a few years until he started working as a construction foreman for W. H. Nohl's Construction Company. Christ served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Christ married Rosmary E. Breitner on March 6, 1944, in Iowa. They first lived in Valley City, ND, before moving to Minot in 1947. In 1947, Christ started Struksnes Construction Company in Minot. He led the work on a number of earth moving projects throughout North Dakota. This included major work on construction of the North Dakota Fish Hatchery. Projects in the Minot region included flood control during the late sixties and seventies, the area surrounding Town and Country Shopping Center and the Minot Post Office, Minot Public School sites, the Minot State University Dome and parking lot, U.S. Highway 83 north to Minot Air Force Base and south on 83 through the coulees, the 2 and 52 Bypass, the 83 interchange and the expansion of the Minot International Airport runway in the 70's. In 1963, he started Truck and Equipment Sales and Services in Minot. His wife died on January 29, 1994, in Minot. Christ lived on his own until age 95, when he moved to Trinity Homes. He was a member of the North Dakota Association of General Contractors, and of First Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway, and held a life membership in the Elks Lodge, all Minot. C. and his wife Judy, all of Minot; daughters, Kathleen M. Brockey,
Minot, and Mary C. Zurcher and her husband Rodger, Glenburn,
ND; grandchildren, Sonja, Heidi, Christ, Amber, Kristine, Deborah,
Grant, Brian, Lance, Scott, Troy and Michelle; 19 great-grandchildren;
three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Smith,
Minnetonka, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary, grandson, Richard,
