Chester Fredrick Stroklund 1921 - 2005

Chester Fredrick Stroklund, 84, Kenmare, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, in a Minot hospital.

Chester, son of Oscar Leonard and Emma Louise (Feldner) Stroklund, was born January 19, 1921 on the family farm near Coulee, ND. He was raised in the area and attended school in Donnybrook.

On December 23, 1939, he married Marjorie Lucille Rose in Minot, ND. Following their marriage, Chet and two of his brothers purchased and operated a garage in Munich, ND. He moved back to the family farm in 1950 and farmed there until he retired.

Chet was a gifted mechanic and welder who usually repaired his own farm equipment, sometimes creating the parts he needed. His sharp mind was able to grasp the fundamentals of plumbing, electrical wiring and carpentry. He became an accomplished builder.

His heart belonged in the beautiful Des Lacs valley where he lived until moving to Somerset Court in Minot in 2004.

Chet loved to hunt and fish with his sons and grandkids. He looked forward to his annual fishing trips to northern Manitoba and loved to tell stories about moose hunting in the Canadian wilderness.

Chet was an avid bowler who won many trophies and bowled a perfect game at the state tournament. He and his wife Margie were known for their grace on the dance floor and their shrewd card playing.

Above all, he was a loving father, husband and grandfather.
