Norma D. Streich 1918 - 2005

Norma D. Streich, 86, Minot, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in a Minot nursing home.

Norma was born August 6, 1918, in Rugby, ND, the daughter of Melvin and Ella (Elstad) Walstad. She moved with her family to Minot where she attended school and graduated from Minot High School. Following high school she attended Minot Business College.

On December 16, 1936, she married Herman "Mike" Streich in Bottineau, ND. The couple lived and farmed in the Maxbass area until 1982 when they moved to Minot. They continued to be active on the farm until 1985, when Herman retired.

Herman died on April 19, 1999. Norma continued to live in Minot.

Norma was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, and was active in the ladies aid. She was active in the Senior Citizens and was a former member of the Moose Lodge. While living on the farm Norma was a member of the English Lutheran Church in Maxbass and was active in the ladies aid and she served as 4H Leader for a number of years. Herman and Norma loved traveling and enjoyed dancing. She will also be remembered for making great lefse.

Survivors: Sons, Marvin (Barbara) Streich, Minot, Richard (JoAnne) Streich, Mineral, WA, Gary (Julia) Streich, Minot, and Michael (Vickie) Streich, Belgrade, MT; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; sister, Lois Sorenson, Billings, MT; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Herman "Mike" Streich and her parents.

Funeral: Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation and prayer service: Visitation Friday, from noon to 5:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, then from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, with the prayer service Friday at 7:00 at the church.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.
