Doris Storhaug, 76, 2425 Hillview Ave., Bismarck, ND, and formerly of Minot, died on Thursday, July 15, 2004 in a Bismarck Nursing Home.

Doris Irene (Hanson) Storhaug was born January 16, 1928 at Granville, ND where she was raised by her parents Harvey and Beatrice (Anfinson) Hanson. She graduated from Granville High School and attended Minot State Teachers College. She married Ronald L. Storhaug on July 7, 1946 in Velva, ND. They made their home and raised their children in Minot where Ronald was employed as an Engineer by the Burlington Northern Railway prior to his death July 8, 1975, and where she spent the early years as a dedicated and loving housewife and mother. She began work with Trinity Hospital in 1962, rising to Supervisor of Central Services with Trinity Medical Center prior to her retirement in 1990.

Doris was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot, Minot Elks Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles, and a past president of the Ladies Society of Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen. She enjoyed playing cards and games with friends and family, reading, traveling, Polka music, dancing, ice cream and chocolate, spending winter days assembling puzzles, and was an excellent cook. She was exceptionally proud of her Norwegian heritage, and was a regular attendee of the Norsk Hostfest and area Lutefisk dinners. Her greatest joys in life were her family and friends. She was known as someone who was always there when you needed her, with a zest for life and the goodness she found in all people, along with a charming smile and a heart of gold. Her door was always open and there was a place at her kitchen table for everyone. She met life's challenges with great strength and dignity.
