Elsie R. Stiles, 94, Minot, died Friday, February 22, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

Elsie was born June 8, 1913, in Dickinson, the daughter of William and Margaret (Schreiber) Neuens. She was raised and educated at Medora.

Elsie was united in marriage to Winford Stiles on May 9, 1936, in Dickinson. Following their marriage, they lived in Dickinson, Williston, and Minot, during which time they raised six daughters. Winford passed away on August 28, 1986.

Elsie was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, sewing, needlepoint, reading, volunteer work for the church and spending time with her family. She line danced twice a week with the Parker Senior Line Dancers until the age of 93. She loved to travel, visiting her children and their families.

Those who shared in her life, Daughters, Darlene (Sid) Birdett, Granbury, Texas, Dalores (John) Burau, Gaylord, Michigan, Jane (Neal) Sims, Helen, Georgia, Margaret (Carlos) Cruz, Independence, Missouri, Marilyn (Larry) Hagan, Loveland, Colorado, Charlotte (Ed) Zahn, Minot; grandchildren, Gary, Darrell (Amy) and Michael (Shawn) Birdett; Carrie (Rick) Skendzel and Thresa (Steve) Baehr; Tracy (Dale) Hulsey and David (Donna) Sims; Deanne (Jerry) Spooner; Jennifer and James Hagan; Heather (Craig) Hanson, Josh, and Christa Zahn; great-grandchildren, Joe and Neil Birdett, Nicholes and Andrew Birdett, Oz Birdett, Thomas, Paul and Elizabeth Skendzel, Kurt and Sydney Baehr, Zachary, Tara and Katie Hulsey, Joshua, Jeremy and Justin Sims, Tristen, Tanner and Isabella Sponner, Andrew Hagan, Brycen Hanson; sister, Marjorie Gratton, Medora, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Viola Ray; brothers, Victor, Jack and Walter.

Funeral: Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday, February 26, 2008 from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. Mountain Time at the Medora Cemetery, Medora, ND.
