Ellen Stevenson 1921 - 2005

Ellen Stevenson, 84, Minot, died Sunday, December 11, 2005, in a Minot hospital.

Ellen Adeline Sjoquist was born on July 13, 1921, the daughter of Ernest John and Borghild Syverene (Evenson) Sjoquist in Wolf Point, MT. At the age of five, she moved with her family to Glenburn-Deering area, where she attended school until her junior year, when they moved to Roseau, MN. She graduated from Roseau High School in 1939.

On January 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Clive Stevenson in Roseau, MN. Following their marriage, the couple made their home and farmed in the Roseau area. On April 1, 1945, Clive and Ellen moved to the Stevenson homestead in Eckman, ND, where they farmed and raised their four children. Clive died August 21, 1978. Following his death, she continued to live on the farm, caring for her brother-in-law, Charles, until his death on December 23, 1985. On January 30, 1986, she moved to Minot. In October of 2003, Ellen entered Trinity Homes, where she resided until the time of her death.

Ellen enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crocheting, sewing, gardening, canning and baking. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan, and had her 83rd birthday acknowledged on the scoreboard during a game.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and the W-ELCA group, both of Glenburn, as well as the Chatfield homemakers club, Eckman, and a 4-H leader. She volunteered with the Trinity Homes Auxiliary, and was an associate member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

She is survived by: Children: Sharon (Howard) Moldenhauer, Mandan, and their children: Michael Moldenhauer, Gerald (Stacy) Moldenhauer, LeAnn (Rodney) Olson, Jodi (James) Butler; Shirley (Myron) Faa, Bottineau, and their children: Annette (John) Dolleslager, Nathan Faa; John F. (Nancy) Stevenson, Minot, and their children: Kristin (Corey) Klinefelter, Sara (Aaron) Hale, Erin (George) Reisdorf; Cathy (Arnold) Langehaug, Glenburn, and their children: Seth, Matia, and Abby Langehaug. 13 Great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Donna Sjoquist, Seattle, WA. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Ellen was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, her sisters and their husbands, Agnes (Belvin) Rudland, Ruth (Alfred) Nelson, Mabel (Ingvald) Rossing, Frances (Clyde) Bauer, and brothers, Austin (Polly) and Bernard Sjoquist

Visitation: Tuesday, December 13, 2005 from noon until 7:00 at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenburn, ND.

Burial: 1:30 p.m. at the Eckman Riverside Cemetery, Eckman, ND.
