Gary "Pete" Stevens, 57, Minot, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 in a Minot hospital.

Gary was born on February 22, 1949, the son of Roy and Clara (Gay) Stevens in Rugby, ND. He was reared and educated in Glenburn, ND.

Following school, he worked with his uncle custom combining, before beginning a career working in the oil fields.

On January 22, 1990, he was united in marriage to Gladys Murdock in Minot, ND. They made their home in Minot, where Gary continued to work in the oil fields, until ill health forced him to retire in 2003.

Gary's love of horses came second only to his true loves, Gladys, their daughter Tina and family. His horsemanship was an important part of his life. He enjoyed sharing it by teaching his grandchildren, nephews, and nieces how to ride and rope.

He was a member of the Glenburn Rodeo Club.

He is survived by: Wife, Gladys Stevens, Minot; daughter, Tina (Ernie) Newman, Minot; three grandchildren, Aaron, Brady and Cylie Newman, all of Minot; brothers, Lynn (Judy) Stevens, Glenburn, ND, Rodney (Geneva) Stevens, Upham, ND; sisters, Susan (Victor) Bynum, Elko, NV, Janice Stevens, Minot; mother-in-law, Irene Murdock, Minot; uncles and aunts, Gorton (Marion) Stevens, Lignite, ND, Donny (Eloy) Stevens, Westby, MT, Jackie Stevens, Glenburn, ND, Irene (Willy) Smith, Gryla, MN, Raymond Johnson, Mt. Vernon, WA, Mabel Heise, Auburn, WA, Eugene Gay, Roy Gay, both of Renton, WA; sisters-in-law, Alice (Larry) Lang, Minot and Mary (Rowland) Cliff, Corpus Christi, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and several aunts and uncles.

Memorial are preferred to the Kidney Foundation.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign a register book Friday, February 23, 2007 from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Memorial Service: Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church, Minot

Burial: Private burial will take place at a later time
