Clara Stevens 1927 - 2004 Clara Stevens, 77, Glenburn, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, in a Minot hospital. She was born on January 26, 1927, in Rugby, ND, the daughter of Elmer Clyde and Anna Bell (Lee) Gay. She was reared and educated in country school at Pleasant Lake, ND. Clara moved to rural Glenburn, ND, and worked for the Hartman, Nelson and the Rhodes families. Clara married Roy Stevens on November 20, 1947, in Rugby, ND. The couple made their home in Glenburn for 51 years where they raised their five children. Roy died on September 23, 1999, in Minot. Roy's passing was extremely hard on Clara and she missed him dearly. Clara lived in Glenburn until the time of her death. Clara was a member of First Baptist Church, Glenburn. She was active with Minot Moose Lodge and the North American Elk Breeders Association. Clara was well known for her banking abilities and her gentle touch with all babies. Survivors: sons, Gary and wife Gladys, Minot, Lynn and wife Judy, Glenburn, and Rodney and wife Geneva, Upham; daughters, Susan Stevens, Opelika, AL, and Janice Stevens, Glenburn; grandchildren, Tina Newman and husband Ernie, Jennifer Matehs and husband Joe, Jason, and Ryan Stevens, Hannah and Danielle Stevens, Jeffrey Williams, and David Williams and wife Jamie; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Brady, and Cylie Newman, Dylan Stevens, Ethan Matehs, Matthew Trey, Devon, and Ayden Williams; sisters, Irene Hermaenson, Grygla, MN, and Mabel Heise, Albany, WA; brothers, Eugene and Roy Gay both of Everett, WA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, her parents, brothers, Clifford and Kenny Gay and sisters, Naomia Wolfe, Gladys Johnson and Margaret Johnson.
