LaVerne B. Sterud • 1923- 2006 LaVerne was born December 21, 1923 in Cloquet, MN, the daughter of George and Anna Kittelson. She moved with her family to Minot in 1936, where she was raised and educated, graduating from Minot High School in 1941. On June 14, 1942 she married Arnold L. Sterud at First Lutheran Church in Minot. LaVerne was a life-long resident of Minot. She was a strong family member raising six children along with being active in many civic organizations. She was a life-member of the Elks and was a 20 year member of the Board of Directors of the Minot Area Vocational Workshop. Her dedication and strong beliefs in the workshop and its goals and ideals affected the lives of many and will continue to do so. LaVerne was a former member of First Lutheran Church, Minot, and a member of Christ Lutheran Church since 1976. Survivors: Husband of 64 years, Arnold, Minot; sons, Robert Sterud, Boston, MA, Kim Sterud and Brian Sterud, both of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Christine Sterud, Minot; daughters-in-law, Judy Sterud, Plymouth, MN, Penny Sterud, Loveland, CO and Francine Sterud, Boston, MA; seven grandchildren, Robby, Sommer, Steven, Julie, Amy, Eric and Briana; three great grandchildren, Peyton, Jordan and Ryder; sister, Lois Sloan, San Francisco, CA; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna; sons, Gary and Donald Sterud; brother, Robert. Funeral: Friday, June 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Thursday, (today) from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Prayer Service: Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
