John A. Stenberg, 47, Minot, died Thursday, November 6, 2008 in a Minot hospital.

John was born on May 1, 1961, a son of Arland and Margaret (Kane) Stenberg in Minot, ND. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Bishop Ryan High School in 1979. John furthered his education, attending college at Minot State University, where he earned a bachelor's of science in Elementary Education and Special Education.

On June 27, 1985, John was united in marriage to Shelly Schumaier in Minot. They made their home in Fargo where John worked for Friendship Village, and South east Human Services before transferring to Minot, ND where he was employed with North Central Human Services for a time. He held various jobs within Minot, most recently working in sales at I. Keating Furniture World. John, along with Shelly, owned and operated HAV'N FUN DJ's, a business that he operated at the time of his death.

He was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. John especially enjoyed spending time with his daughters Jordan and Jade. He loved playing tennis, bike riding, pool, and attending all sporting events.

Those who shared John's life: Wife Shelly Stenberg, daughters Jordan and Jade Stenberg, all of Minot; mother: Margaret Stenberg, Minot, siblings, Paul Stenberg, Woodbury, MN, Mary (Cal) Sikorski, Regina, SK, Peter (Carol) Stenberg, Minot, Renee Stenberg, Minot, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

John was preceded in death by his father Arland "Shorty", sister Anne Marie, aunt Helen Kane, father-in-law Ruben Schumaier, brother-in-law Larry Schumaier, and nephew Shane Schumaier.

Visitation: Monday, November 10, 2008 from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Vigil Prayer Service: Monday, November 10, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Jordan and Jade Stenberg Trust, located at Town and Country Credit Union 615 South Broadway, Minot.
