Robert W. Stein 1934 - 2003

Robert W. Stein, 68, Minot, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at his residence of natural causes.

He was born June 3, 1934, Mandan, ND, the son of John V. and Margaret (Boehm) Stein. He was reared in Mandan and attended Crown Butte School.

On October 18, 1955, Robert married Viola Geiger. They moved to Minot for a short time and had two daughters. They later moved to Twin Buttes, ND, where they lived for five years. Robert and Viola enjoyed the people, fishing and the overall lifestyle in that area. One son was born in Twin Buttes.

They moved back to Minot where the youngest son was born. Robert was employed with Civil Service at the Minot Air Force Base and retired in 1980. While living in Minot the family remained active in fishing, camping and hunting. Robert and Viola owned and operated the Casa Motel in Minot from 1975 until 1990. Viola died on September 19, 1998, in Parshall, ND.

Robert loved his family dearly and they will miss his tremendous sense of humor. In his spare, time Robert enjoyed gardening, tinkering with various projects around the house and listening to old time music especially waltz's.

Robert was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Minot Motel Association.

Survivors: sons, Bryan Stein (Holly) and Bruce Stein, all of Minot; daughters, Diane Brittian , Wichita, KS, and Patricia Graves (Warren) Minot, seven grandchildren, Bradley Brittian, Rebecca Brittian, Brett Brittian, Sarah Graves, Joshua Graves, Shelby Stein and Sydney Stein; brothers, Daniel Stein (Mary), Mandan and Paul Stein (Judy), Minot; sister, Anna Frank, Dickinson, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Visitation: Tuesday, March 18, 2003, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Prayer Service: Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
