Clements "Clem" Stein 1927- 2006


Clements "Clem" Stein, 78, 5801 5th Ave. SW, Minot, ND, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, in a Minot hospital.

Clements J. Stein was born on May 11, 1927, the son of Joseph G. and Julia (Dietrich) Stein on the family farm, located in Morton County, near Mandan, ND. He was raised on the family farm and attended Crown Butte School #7. He then assisted his parents with the operation of the family farm.

He enlisted in the US Army on February 21, 1946. He proudly served his country during WWII and was honorably discharged on June 25, 1946.

Clem was married to Dorene M. Bieber on August 3, 1951, in Mandan, ND. They lived in Mandan, where he was employed by the Mandan Foundry Co. for 16 years. In 1963, they moved to Minot, where he was employed as the manager of the 52 Club for several years. He then worked for Morris Manufacturing for several years. Dorene passed away on April 20, 2003.

He enjoyed woodworking, listening to music, dancing, camping and spending time at various lakes in North Dakota.

Surviving family includes: daughter, Sandra Stein, Minot; son, Terril Stein, Minot; special friend, Viola Schell, Minot; granddaughter, Nicole Genung; brothers, Ted (Gloria) Stein, Driscoll, ND, Lawrence Stein, Minot; sisters, Alice Renner, Stockton, CA, Caroline Geiger, Minot, Julia (Ted) Mauer, Brighton, CO, Rosalie (Curtis) Jensen, Yuma, AZ, Kathleen (Lee) Sossa, Williston, ND, Cecilia (Emil) Hauf, Benedict, ND, and Lucille (Terry) Hoffman, Pasco, WA; sisters-in-law, Joan George, Laurel, MT, Arlene Sautner, Tacoma, WA, and Janice Ingles, Lemon, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clements was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorene; and son, Richard A. Stein.

Funeral: Monday, April 10, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
