Julius A. "Pete" Steinke 1927- 2009 Julius Adolph “Pete” Steinke was born August 15, 1927 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, to Rudolph and Christine (Lemke) Steinke. He was raised and attended school in that area. On July 19, 1945 Pete entered the United States Navy and served during World War II. He worked on the flight line in Okinawa, Japan. He was honorably discharged on September 13, 1946, and he moved to North Dakota. He worked on the construction of the Garrison Dam. On September 13, 1962 Pete married Doris (Herzog) Hanenberg in Minot, ND. They made there home in Minot. Pete owned and operated Pete’s Construction in Minot until 1972. In 1972, he and a partner started Ask Incorporated in Minot, which he operated until his retirement. Pete was a member of the Minot Builder’s Association and the Elks Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Those who shared in his life, Wife, Doris, Minot; children, Rudy (Vicki) Steinke, Minot, ND, Sheila Steinke, Loveland, CO, Greg Steinke, Scottsdale, AZ, John Steinke, Minot, Cory (Robin) Steinke, Phoenix, AZ, and Tim Steinke, Minot; stepchildren, Peter (Darlene) Hanenberg and Thomas Hanenberg, all of Colorado, Mary Fennell of Minnesota, Joseph Hanenberg and Susan Hanenberg, both of Minot; loving granddaughter, Jessica and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters; numerous nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his son, William; two sisters and two brothers. Funeral Service: A private funeral will be held at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home. Public visitation: Wednesday, October 14, 2009, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Officiating Clergy: Rev.
