Ethel Rose Stave 1920 - 2003

Ethel Rose Stave, 83, of Blaisdell, ND passed away Friday, March 14, 2003, at a Westhope nursing home.

Ethel was born to Harry and Rose (Rock) Bruhn, on February 20, 1920, at the family home near Blaisdell. She attended and graduated from Blaisdell High School where she especially enjoyed the glee club, the class plays, and music activities.

Ethel married Albert Stave on November 18, 1939, at the family home. They farmed and operated a PMU business in Stave Township, four miles north of Blaisdell. Albert passed away in 1967 and Ethel continued to live an active life on the family farm until 1996.
In 1996, she purchased a condominium and moved to Minot. She enjoyed the company of others for four years before developing Alzheimer's disease. In 2001, Ethel moved into the Westhope Home where she received excellent care until the time of her death.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Blaisdell, where she was active with the WELCA. Ethel was also a member of the Westhope Arts Council, a 4-H Leader, homemakers club, square dancing club, and a school volunteer for 18 years.

Ethel enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, quilting, crafting, and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Survivors: daughters, Marcella Walton (Jerry), Gilbert, AZ, Pamella Picek (Kerry), Minot, ND, and Kathy Matteson (Mike), Westhope; grandchildren, Leslie Stave Sandgren, Shannon Stave Pounds, Heidi Walton McKinzie (Randy), Heather Walton Bachmann (Jim), Brendon Picek, Jennifer Walton, Jessica Walton, Shelbey Picek, Tiffany Matteson, Sydney Picek, and Spencer Matteson; great grandchildren, Kiley Sandgren, Dustin Johnson, Kolbey Sandgren, Amber Johnson, Dakota Pounds and Nyah Bachmann; sister, Florence Johnson (Chester), Palermo, ND; brothers, Roy Bruhn, Minot, Gilbert Bruhn (Mary), Wolf Point, MT and Lawrence Bruhn (Darlene) Palermo, numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Albert Stave Jr., and brothers, Julius and Earl Bruhn.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at 11.am. at Faith Lutheran Church, Palermo, ND.

Visitation: Monday, March 17, 2003, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Prayer Service: Monday, March 17, 2003, at 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Burial: St. Luke's Cemetery, Blaisdell, ND. Burial at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Memorial contributions will be made to the Alzheimer's Association and the Westhope Home.
