Lillian M. Splichal 1917 - 2009

Lillian M. Splichal photoLillian  M.  Splichal, 92, Minot, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in a Minot nursing care facility.

She was born on July 18, 1917, in Dickinson, ND, a daughter of Frank and Agnes (Ficek) Zastoupil.  She was raised and education in the Dickinson area, attending the Ash Coulee School and the St. Peter and Paul Parochial School at New Hradec, ND.

She married Frank J. Splichal in 1938.  They lived in Dickinson and Bismarck before moving to Minot in 1957.  Mr. Splichal died in September of 1993.

She was active in the church community and was a member of its Altar Society.  She was a volunteer at Trinity Hospital and Trinity Homes.  She was employed at Mann’s Automotive in Bowman and Minot until 1978 when she retired.

She was a charter member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Serra Club.

She is survived by: daughter Diana (Richard) Johnson of Sun Lakes, AZ; son Daniel (Susan) Splichal of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren Mark (Lisa) Johnson, Brian (Susanna) Johnson, Craig (Tracy) Johnson, Mike Splichal and Katie Splichal; great grandchildren Tyler, Katelynn, Steve, Melissa and Anisa Johnson. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Stephen and Joseph Zastoupil and sisters Agnes Tuhy, Mary Sameck, Emma Kostelecky and Anna Kostelecky.  Two sons, Bernard and Raymond, also preceded her in death.

Memorials are preferred to the Minot Catholic Schools our Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Funeral:  Friday, December 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service:  Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Visitation:  Thursday, December 3, 2009 from noon until 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial:  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
