LeRoy V. Sorenson 1928 - 2004 LeRoy V. Sorenson, 75, 1052 West Central Avenue, Minot, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in a Minot Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born May 17, 1928, at Ryder ND, to the late Paul and Nora (Peterson) Sorenson. He was raised and educated at Ryder. He enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and served in the submarine division. LeRoy married Cleo Drader on March 20, 1949, in Minot. They made their home here where he was employed by Hap's Plumbing and Heating for a number of years. He later worked on the Garrison Dam, Minot Radar Base, and Minot Air Force Base. In 1964, he started a mechanical contracting company called Soren and Company in Los Angeles, CA., where he employed hundreds of workers. His expertise led him to accept additional contracts in Marysville, CA., Key West and Orlando, FL., and also jobs in Georgia and South Carolina. The Sorenson's returned to Minot in 1975, where LeRoy joined the Plumbers and Pipe fitters' Local Union 627 and continued to work until retirement in 1991. He then spent leisure hours hunting, gardening and reading, until poor vision curtailed his activities. In 1999, LeRoy and Cleo celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. LeRoy was a member of the Elks, Eagles, and American Legion. He is survived by his wife Cleo, Minot; daughters, Mona (Jerry) Anderson, Granville, and Gail Fitzgerald (Bruce Schwab), Coupeville, WA.; grandsons, Shane (Stacy Roberts) Anderson, Granville, Josh Anderson, Minot, and Chad (Alys) Fitzgerald, Everett, WA.; one great grandson, Derrek Anderson and his mother, Heather Anderson, Minot; brothers, Leslie (Delores) Sorenson, Minot, and Lloyd (Jeri) Sorenson, Billings, MT.; brothers-in-law, Dorlin Drader and Ted Drader, Amity, OR., Lavere Drader, San Pedro, CA., and Del Drader, Granville. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Service: Friday, April 2, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot, ND, with the Rev. Curtis Hanson officiating. Cremation has taken place. Visitation: Friends may sign a register Thursday, April 1, 2004, (today) from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home.
