Mable Snyder 1926 - 2010 Mable C. Carroll was born April 11, 1926, a daughter of Ray and Alma (Behrens) Carroll, in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1944. Mable was once married to Everett Acheson. From this union, two sons, Steve and Gary, were born. She was employed as a secretary for the Westhope Farmers Union. Mable was once married to Albert Houmann. From this union, a son, Chet, was born. She continued to work at the Westhope Farmers Union for a time until going to work for Farstad Oil as a secretary. Mable then married Prouty Snyder. She then began employment at the Ward County Tax Equalization Department for several years until retiring in 1988. During this time, she volunteered for the Minot Public Library by delivering books to underprivileged children and also volunteered at the YMCA by helping children learn to swim. Following the death of her husband, she continued to reside in Minot. At the time of her death, she had been residing at Brentmoor Assisted Living. In her younger years, she was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Minot. She enjoyed knitting, reading, traveling and needlework. Surviving family includes: sons, Steve Acheson, Denver, CO, Gary (Marlene) Acheson, San Diego, CA, and Chet (Shirley) Houmann, Westhope, ND; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Carroll; two nieces, and one nephew. |
