Marlow Joseph Smith 1934 - 2008

Marlow Joseph Smith, 73, Grafton, ND formerly of Sawyer, ND, and Velva, ND, died on Sunday, April 6, 2008 in Grafton.

Marlow was born on November 2, 1934, at Sawyer, ND, the son of Joseph and Rose (Affeldt) Smith. He was raised and educated in Sawyer and attended St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Marlow worked on the family farm until his late teens when he went to work for area farmers and ranchers and later returned to work with his brother Gary.

Marlow loved country music and enjoyed going places where he could visit with friends and listen to good country music. Marlow also enjoyed collecting John Deer memorabilia.

Survivors: sisters, Ruth Jefferson, Los Angeles, CA, Audrey Coombs, Burnsville, MN, JoAnn (Hugh) Patterson, Norwich, ND and Gloria (Garry) Heizelman, Minot; brother, Gary Smith, Minot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Joe, brother, Wayne Smith, brother in law, Thomas Jefferson and nephew, George Coombs, JR.

Funeral Service: Friday, April 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Visitation: Thursday, April 10, 2008, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial: Sawyer Cemetery, Sawyer, ND.
