Beverly Smestad, 56, 710 9th St. NW, Minot, ND, entered into Heaven Wednesday, January 30, 2008, in a Minot hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Beverly J. Karlsbroten was born February 10, 1951, the daughter of Andrew M. and Frances M. (Todd) Karlsbroten in Minot, ND. She was raised in Douglas, ND, and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Douglas, ND. She attended school in Garrison, ND, and graduated from Garrison High School in 1969. She then attended Jack's Beauty School in Minot, while living at the YWCA. She worked at Dwelly's Salon in Garrison, ND.

Beverly was married to Don Smestad September 12, 1975, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Douglas, ND. They made their home in Minot, where she was employed by Gary's Hairstylists, JC Penney Salon, Little Flower Catholic School, Ramstad Jr. High School and was an aide at Jim Hill Jr. High School. Most recently she was helping Don with his business, Smestad Coating.

Bev was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Douglas, and attended First Assembly of God Church in Minot.

She enjoyed flowers, driving around town with Don and enjoying the beauty of the earth, and going to concerts with her sister, Shirley.

Most of all, she enjoyed being with family and friends. She watched all of her children's sporting events. Christmas was her favorite holiday, as she loved to entertain and collect snowmen. She was a model mother, who was extremely compassionate and caring,

Her loving family includes: husband of 31 years, Don, Minot; daughter, Sara Smestad (Todd) Conrey, Minot, sons, Jason Smestad (Kasey Wood) and Josh Smestad (Breann Albertson), all of Minot; grandchildren, Tiara, Andrew, and Emma Jean Conrey; sister, Shirley (Clarence) Schlieman, Minot; aunts, Mae (Rudy) Brickner, rural Douglas, ND, Betty (Art) Schuer, rural Douglas, ND; special nieces, Amanda Schlieman and Amber Schlieman and her fiancé, Trey Meadows. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; uncle, Howard Todd; and aunts, Ruby Loorence and Amy Westby.

Funeral: Monday, February 4, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

In lieu of flowers, Bev's family appreciates memorials.
