LeRoy A. Slorby ,84 , Minot, ND died Monday ,Dec 1st ,2008 in a Minot hospital.

He was born in Minot, on Sept 14th , 1924 to Albert and Helen (Nordholm) Slorby.

He was educated in Minot and graduated from MHS in 1942 ,where he played in the band and earned varsity letters in basketball, football and golf.

He later attended St Olaf College, Minot State and the University of Iowa.

He served in both the Navy and Army Air Force in the Pacific, India, Burma and China during World War II.

LeRoy married Constance McGovern in Minot in 1944 and they had four children. He spent many hours playing golf and building model airplanes in his spare time.

LeRoy took over Slorby Studio from his Father, Albert , and made a living as a professional photographer until he retired. He attended many state conventions and photographic seminars and served as the president of The North Dakota Photographers Association several times.

He received lifetime memberships in the ND Photographers Association, the Disabled American Veterans and the Minot Elks. He was also a member for many years in the American Legion, 40et8, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Minot Country Club, The Minot Kiwanis, The Minot Aircraft Modelers Assoc., and various other fraternal and civic organizations .

LeRoy was later married to Judith (Walker) Holbach until her death in 2002.

Survivors are his children , Jack Slorby , Tom (Margo)Slorby , Robert (Omana)Slorby and Lynda Slorby all of Minot. sisters ,Marge (Roger) Heegaard of Minneapolis ,MN , and Eldora (Robert) Mikkelsen , Surprise ,AZ. 1st wife , Constance Sweeney and his beloved cat Tassie.

He was also survived by 7 grandchildren ,6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents and his wife , Judy.

Funeral: Thursday, December 4, 2008, at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND

Visitation: On Wednesday (Today) from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

The Slorby family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. May God bless the memory of Leroy.
