Alice Sitter 1919 - 2006


Alice Sitter, 87, 501 West Ave. SW, Granville, ND, went to be with her Lord Thursday, September 7, 2006, in a Minot nursing home.

She was born on August 2, 1919, at the family home in rural Riga, ND, the daughter of August and Anna (Aaenson) Lueck. She attended White Rock and Upham Schools.

Alice was united in marriage to Michael Sitter on May 17, 1946, in Glendive, MT. The couple made their home in rural Granville where they raised their five children. In September of 1970, they moved into Granville. Throughout the years, Alice worked as a Homemaker, Nurses Aide, and School Custodian. She was also a wonderful decorator, seamstress, Sunday school teacher, Senior Citizen's volunteer, scout leader and a caretaker of many. She was great at volunteering wherever needed. Alice was a member of the Granville First Lutheran Church, and Ladies Aide.

Alice is survived by her husband of 60 years, Michael, Granville; son, Larry (Patricia) Sitter, Granville; daughters, Gloria (Ken) Kraft, Bismarck, ND; Lona (Ted) Hatfield, Lee's Summit, MO, and Sharon Sitter, Glenburn, ND; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Jay) Strandberg, Minot and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Anna Lueck, son, Gailen Sitter, great-grandchild, Isabella Newman and a sibling lost to miscarriage, brothers and sister-in-law, Harry (Ida) Lueck and Clarence Lueck; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sally (Roy) Miller, Ella (DeWitt) Flinn and Mabel (Donald) Kuhnhenn.

Funeral Service: Monday, September 11, 2006, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Granville, ND.

Visitation: Sunday, September 10, 2006, from Noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Granville Community Cemetery, Granville.
