Charles Allen "Budd" Sigloh 1911 - 2011
Charles Allen “Budd” Sigloh, 99, Minot and formerly of rural Kenaston, ND, died Wednesday, March 09, 2011, in a Minot hospital.
Charles was born on August 31, 1911 on the family farm in Spencer Township, Ward County, North Dakota a son of George and Elizabeth (Topping) Sigloh. He was raised and educated in the Kenaston area. He spent nearly his entire life on the family farm, moving to Minot in 2002. He took care of both his mother and father throughout their lives until their passing.
Charles served his country in the US Army Air Force from February 20, 1942 until October 27, 1945, achieving the rank of Sergeant.
Charles had a passion for learning that extended throughout his entire life. Although receiving only an 8th grade formal education, he continued his learning through his travels throughout the world. As technology advanced, so did his ambition to stay up to date. Computers, e-mail and the cell phone become his connection to the world.
Charles was the central figure in keeping his family connected. Through letters, and in later years e-mails, family was kept up to date on the happenings of each other. He loved anything fast, whether it be cars, motorcycles or planes.
Charles was a longtime member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare, ND. He was a lifetime member of the VFW of Kenmare, the American Legion of Stanley, ND and the AMVETS of Minot.
He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Minot.
Charles is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Sigloh of Minot, Dolly (Ray) Lindberg of Stanley, and Frances Lindberg of Stanley; sister in law Christine Sigloh of Kenmare; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Altha Landers; brothers George, Paul, John, Royce, Darel, Ellis and David Sigloh; an infant brother and an infant sister.
Funeral: Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Thompson-Larson Funeral Chapel, Minot, ND.
Visitation: Friday, March 11, 2011 from noon until 7:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.
