Margie Semchenko 1934 - 2009

Margie Semchenko PhotoMargie Semchenko, 75, Minot, ND, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009, in a Minot hospital, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.

Margie A. Wenger was born August 21, 1934, a daughter of John and Martha (Wendschlag) Wenger, in Max, ND.  She was raised and educated in Max, graduating from Max High School in 1952.

Margie married Arnold Semchenko March 23, 1954, in Washburn, ND. They made their home on a farm near Max, where they raised their two children, Jody and Brian. They reside on the farm until 1962, when they moved to Minot.

Margie attended the Trinity School of Nursing in Minot, and graduated in 1970, as a Registered Nurse. She then began her employment as a RN at Trinity Hospital and worked there for the next 25 years. She retired from Trinity Hospital in 1995.

Following her retirement from nursing, she became employed at Miracle Mart on Broadway, serving dairy samples, from 2004 to 2006.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.

She enjoyed traveling, whether it be on a cruise or with the many motor coach tours she and Arnold took throughout the United States. She also enjoyed volunteering. She was a tour guide at Roosevelt Park Zoo, worked as a door guard at the Norsk Hostfest and worked in the cafeteria in Medora, ND.

Her loving family includes:  husband of 55 years, Arnold, Minot; daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Robbin Hendrickson, Bismarck, ND; son and daughter-in-law, Brian D. and Kathy Semchenko, Milo, MO; granddaughter, Lena Semchenko, Springfield, MO; brothers, Vernon (Barbara) Wenger, Minot, and Odean (Lois) Wenger, Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; John and Martha Wenger; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Stacia and Matt Semchenko; and brother-in-law, Richard Semchenko.

Funeral: Thursday, October 22, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot

Interment:  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: 
Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
