Wilbert Seibel 1925 - 2007 Wilbert was born on August 13, 1925, the son of Henry and Rosalia "Rose" (Heft) Seibel in McClusky, ND. He attended rural schools near Sawyer and Velva, graduating from Velva High School in 1943. On February 24, 1944, he enlisted into the United States Navy, where he served as a Fireman First Class and received the Asiatic Pacific Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Wilbert proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on June 1, 1946. On June 5, 1949, he was united in marriage to Martha Aaseth at the Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva, ND. Following their marriage, Wilbert worked for the Highway Department for several years. In 1952, they moved to a farm south of Velva, ND, where along with farming, Wilbert worked for the Consolidated Coal Company for 19 years, before retiring in October of 1987. He continued his farming interests until April of 1998. Wilbert was a member of the Oak Valley Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #753 of Minot, the American Legion Post # 39 of Velva, the Star City Senior Citizens, the United Mine Workers, the Moose lodge and the Thor Lodge Sons of Norway. Wilbert is survived by: Wife of 57 years, Martha Seibel, Velva, ND; son, Mark (Pamela) Seibel, Voltaire, ND; daughter, Wanda (Robert) Fogarty, Minot: brother, Clarence Seibel, Minot, brother-in-law, Maurice Oler, Minot; sister, Sharon (Keith) Churchill, Lawrence, KS, sister-in-law, Helen Seibel, Ross, ND; eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Patrick and Joseph Seibel; Edward, Robert, Nathan, Bethany and Wilbert Fogarty; two great-grandchildren, Adam and Bailey. Numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eddie and sisters, Luella Oler, and Violet Seibel. Visitation: Sunday, April 1, 2007 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Velva, ND. Funeral Service: Monday, April 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, ND. Burial: Monday, April 2, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot. Memorials preferred to the Souris Valley Care Center, Oak Valley Lutheran Church both in Velva or to an organization of the donor's choice. Officiant: Rev.
