Betty Schuer • 1932 - 2008

Betty Schuer, 76, Douglas, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in a Ryder Foster Care center.

Betty was born on August 2, 1932, the daughter of George and Mary Todd. She grew up in the Douglas area, attending Douglas High School and graduating in 1950. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Douglas. She worked for a time as a bookkeeper for Finken Hardware Store.

Betty married Arthur Schuer on February 17, 1952. They farmed in the Ryder area and in 1956 they bought the present farm in Ward County, where she farmed along with Art and raised a family until present times. In January of 2008 she moved to the Hagen's Foster Care Home in Ryder, ND.

Betty's hobbies and interests included working outdoors, riding horses, gardening, canning, listening to old time music and dancing. She also enjoyed birthday and holiday get togethers with her sisters and their families and enjoyed being involved in the church and community.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Douglas, ND.

Betty is survived by her husband, Arthur Schuer, Douglas; sons, Jim (Brenda) Schuer, Max, ND and Greg (Jill) Schuer St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Jessie and Heidi Schuer, Lance and Heather Schuer and Kris Zidon; great-grandchild, Hadley Marie Schuer; sister, Mae (Rudy) Brickner, Douglas, ND.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Howard Todd; sisters, Ruby Lawrence, Amy Westby, and Francis Karlsbroten; grandson, Ryan Schuer.

Visitation: Sunday, December 21, 2008 from noon-5:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Funeral Service: Monday, December 22, 2008 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Douglas, ND.

Prayer Service: Sunday, December 21, at 5:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home chapel, Minot.

Burial: Monday at 2 p.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
