Violet Schott 1924 - 2010

Violet Schott PhotoViolet Schott, 85, Minot, formerly of Butte, ND, died Saturday, July 31, 2010 in her home.

Violet Elizabeth Schott was born on November 12, 1924, a daughter of John D. and Carolina (Spear) Dockter in Medicine Hall Township, McLean County, ND. She was raised and educated at Consolidated School in Holmes Township in Sheridan County.  

On April 12, 1943, Violet was united in marriage to Edwin Schott. They made their home and farmed on the family farm in Byersville Township, nine miles south of  Butte until 1967. They then moved into Butte, where Violet was the Butte School cook until 1974, when they then moved to Minot, where she was the cook at Bell School until 1976. Violet was employed by St. Joseph’s Hospital in Minot until retirement.

She was an avid BINGO player, and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a former member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Butte, and currently a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.

Surviving relatives:  a very caring friend who has lived with the family since 1967, Donna Depute, who is a true daughter and sister to the family; Son: Dennis (Lois) Schott, Butte, ND; daughters Julienne (Jim) Budeau, Minot, Vicky Aas, Mandan; five grandchildren: Kurt, Beth, Randy, Jessica and Jason; five great-grandchildren: Alex, Hayden, Marley, Jacob, Kathryn; brother: Clifford Dockter, Garrison, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin in March, 1976, brothers Edwin, Albert, Harold, Bert and Ervin and a sister Ida Schimke.

Visitation: Monday, August 2, 2010 from 4 until 7 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot and one hour prior to the service at the church

Funeral Service: Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 10 am at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial:  Tuesday, at noon at the Butte Community Cemetery, Butte, ND, with a luncheon to follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Butte, ND.

Memorials are preferred to the Trinity Hospice Program, the Butte Cemetery, or donor’s choice.

The graveside service will take place immediately following the funeral service in Butte. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery. There will be no formal procession.

Following the graveside service, everyone in invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Butte, ND.

The Schott family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. May God bless the memory of Violet.
