Anna Schoenberg 1915 - 2008

Anna Schoenberg, 92, Minot, ND, formerly of the Ruso and Sawyer areas, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in a Minot nursing home.

Anna Marie Bieber was born November 10, 1915, daughter of Peter and Fredericka (Wittmeyer) Bieber in Helda, Alberta, Canada. She was raised there and at the age of six, moved with her family to Zap, ND. She and her family then moved to Sidney, MT, and later to a farm south of East Fairview, ND, where she assisted her family with the operation of the beet farm. She was educated at the Bieber School located on the SE corner of the farm.

Anna was married to Cecil Schoenberg September 2, 1934, in Sidney, MT. They made their home in Fairview, MT, until 1941, when they moved to Benedict, ND. In 1945, Anna became a United States citizen. They later moved to Minot for a year before moving east of Ruso. After living east of Ruso, they resided in Sawyer for several years. In 1960, they moved to a farm north of Ruso, where they resided for 20 years. Cecil passed away February 28, 1978. After a few years of residing on the farm, she moved to Minot and had resided there since. She had resided at Edgewood Vista before moving into Trinity Homes in January of 2003.

She was a former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sawyer, and St. John's Lutheran Church, Kongsberg, and was active in the L.W.M.L. She was currently a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot, and its L.W.M.L.

She enjoyed her Bible studies as well as playing cards, bingo, baking and crocheting.

Surviving family includes: daughters, Cecilia (Warren) Howe, Minot, Dora (George) Gross, Mandan, Violet (LeRoy) Homann, Marysville, WA, and Carol (Elmer) Merk, Lynnwood, WA; sons, Wayne (Rosita) Schoenberg, Minot, and Lester (Laura) Schoenberg, Bismarck; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil; daughter, Marlene Esther; son, George Schoenberg; sisters, Friederika Schlothauer, Rosina Kruger, Betty Gable, Lydia Gable, Martha Genther, and Esther Anderson; brothers, William, George and Rudolf Bieber.

Funeral: Monday, March 24, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Monday at 3 pm at St. John's Cemetery, Kongsberg, ND.

Visitation: Saturday from Noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: Anna's family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.
