Ardis Schobinger 1924 - 2006

Ardis Schobinger, 81, Minot, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2006, in a Minot nursing home.

Ardis Helen Thompson was born May 12, 1924, in Lisbon, ND, the daughter of Elmer and Ida (Germanson) Thompson. She was raised and educated in the Lisbon area and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1942.

Ardis married Melford "Mel" Schobinger on March 22, 1944, in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Enderlin, ND, Fargo, ND, Miles City, MT, Glendive, MT, and Williston, ND.

In 1962, the family moved to Minot. In 1963, she started working as a waitress at the American Legion Club. She then worked at the Eagles Aerie Club and Chances "R" in Minot. She retired from waitressing in the early 1980's. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family. As a couple, Mel and Ardis seldom missed a grandchild's special event, such as confirmations, graduations, football games, and weddings.

In March of 1998, she entered Edgewood Vista. She entered Trinity Homes in Minot in January of 2001. Mel passed away on October 13, 2004.

She loved to spend time outdoors, planting her flowers, and spending time at Strawberry Lake. She also enjoyed baking, playing cards, puzzles, and telling jokes.

Ardis was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot, the Strawberry Lake Association, the Eagles Aerie Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Those who shared in her life: children, Janet (Henry) Boe, Fargo, Jack (Myra) Schobinger, Virginia Beach, VA, Roxy (David) Uhlich, Tioga, Joyce (Myron) Bauer, Green Bay, WI, and Rae (Joel) Hoffer, Minot; 16 grandchildren, Cathy Bachmeier, Gwyn (Corey) Johnson, Melody (Matt) Okke, Kimberly (Steven) Grosz, Jay (Sandra) Schobinger, Randy Schobinger, Patrick Schobinger, Nancy (Delvin) Klatt, Tiffany (Robert) Gaydos, Tara (Spencer) Johansen, David (Roxie) Uhlich, Cody (Heidi) Uhlich, Benjamin (Winter) Uhlich, Jennifer Bauer, Philip Bauer, Bridger Hoffer; 28 great-grandchildren, Derek, Jordan, Chris, Cole, Nicolette, Mason, Morgan, Max, Alysha, Tyler, Jacob, Madison, Zane, Jack, Nicholas, Tallon, Weston, Brady, Bailey, Gabrielle, Parker, Tyler, Jayden, McKenna, Jordan, Lexi, Rave and Luke; sister, Leona Olson, Leonard, ND; sister-in-law, Virginia Schobinger, Buffalo, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Tom Thompson; brothers-in-law, Gordon Olson, Allen Schobinger and Lloyd "Pee Wee" Waldahl; sisters-in-law, Lillian Thompson and Roslyn Waldahl; and nephew, Paul Waldahl.

Funeral: Saturday, February 18, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Friday from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Family Prayer Service: Friday at 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Saturday at 4:30 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Embden, ND.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff on 4 East at Trinity Homes, and also Dr. Cheryl Ree.
