Arlene was united in marriage to Marvin Schnabel October 2, 1955, at First Congregational Church, Minot. They made their home on a farm located one mile north of the Schnabel family farmstead in Deep River Township of McHenry County, rural Upham, ND.

Arlene and Marvin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005 and celebrated their life together with a large gathering of family and friends. Marvin passed away April 19, 2007.

Arlene was a former member of the Peace Reformed Church, Upham. She was also a member of the B&U Homemaker Club and had served as a 4-H Leader in Upham.

Arlene loved to play cards, especially pinochle, crocheting Afghans and baby items and was a talented baker who delighted many children with her special cut-out birthday cakes.
