Lida Schmidtke, 94, Kenmare, ND, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008, in the Kenmare Community Hospital.

Lida Agnes Brown was born October 11, 1913, the daughter of Bert and Alice (McIntosh) Brown in Kenmare, ND. She was raised and educated in Kenmare.

Lida was once married to Harold Holmes.

Lida married Lyle J. Schmidtke November 19, 1939, in Sidney, MT. They lived in Pensacola, FL, where Lyle was stationed during WWII. Following his discharge from the Army, they moved back to Kenmare, ND, where Lida was employed by the Irvin Hotel and the Kenmare Recreation Parlor for several years. Lyle passed away November 15, 1987. She had continued to reside in Kenmare since her husband's death.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the VFW Auxiliary Post #7049, and the Kenmare Senior Citizens Center, all of Kenmare. She was also a member of the Powers Lake Senior Citizens Center.

Surviving family includes: daughters, June McPherson, Oaklee, MN, and Dianne (Ken) Chapman, Kenmare, ND; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, sister, Anne Yunker, Youngstown, OH. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Lida was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle; daughter, Donna Fredrickson; sons-in-law, Neltson McPherson and Floyd Fredrickson; sisters, Stella, Grace, Dorothy, and Ruth; brother, Arthur.

Funeral: Friday, April 4, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Kenmare.

Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.

Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
