Ruth J. Schlosser, 91, Minot, passed away peacefully Friday, July 17, 2009, with her loving family at her side. The Lord wrapped his arms around Ruth and guided her to His heavenly home.

Ruth Josephine Shervold was born February 24, 1918 in Minot, ND, a twin to John and Pernella (Larson) Shervold. Ruth and her twin brother, Roy, were the first set of twins born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot. Their middle names Josephine and Joseph represents their hospitals name sake. Ruth was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot, and raised and educated in Minot.

Ruth moved to Portland, OR and worked in the shipyards. While working there she met Joseph Schlosser. On February 13, 1944, Ruth and Joe were married at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot. With World War II still going on, Joe and Ruth returned to Portland, Oregon to work in the shipyards. They moved back to Minot in 1946. Joe and Ruth raised eight children, four sons and four daughters. In 1954, they moved to Sawyer, ND.

After 51 years of marriage, Joe passed away, January 24, 1995. Ruth moved to Henry Towers in Minot. She enjoyed playing bingo and visiting friends and family. She loved attending the Norsk Hostfest and was proud of her Norwegian Heritage. We can still hear her say, "You Betcha." Ruth also enjoyed cooking and baking, and her children will always remember her fresh baked bread and her delicious fried chicken. She later moved to Edgewood Vista in Minot and recently entered ManorCare Health Services, where she lived until her passing.

Ruth had a quick wit and a wonderful spirit. She was unique, in that she was able to connect with the younger generation. She was a very kind and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.

Those who shared in her life, sons, Eldon (Linda) Schlosser, Bismarck, ND, Wayne (Diane) Schlosser, Alden, MN, Barry (Donna) Schlosser and Steve (Pam) Schlosser, all of Minot; daughters, Mavis (Lynn) Hornaday, Minot; twin daughters, Mary (Marlin) Gruenberg, Margaret (Gordy) DeCoteau, and Marilyn Pope, all of Bismarck; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
