Alice Ann Schiele 1931 - 2010
Alice Ann Schiele, age 79, of rural Burlington, ND, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010, in her home with her family at her bedside.
Alice Ann Mulvihill was born July 13, 1931, a daughter of Daniel R. and Avis E. (Albin) Mulvihill in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1949. She then attended the Minot Business College where she received her business degree. She later attended Minot State College in the early 1980’s.
Alice Ann married Kenneth D. Schiele September 14, 1952, in Rugby, ND. They made their home in Minot, where she worked in the ASCS Office for a short time, before beginning her 41 year career in the Nursing Administration Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Foxholm, served on the Board of Directors of the UniMed Credit Union/Edgewood Vista. She received the Freddie Meyer Award for Excellence in 1999.
Alice Ann was a beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, who loved her family, loved life, loved to travel, and loved to dance, especially the jitterbug. She won multiple dance contests with her brother, Frank. Alice Ann was kind, loving, and had a keen ability to make anyone feel at ease. She was a confidante and good friend and was considered a second mother/grandmother to many.
She was very proud of her Irish Ancestry, had a quick wit, and loved a good joke. She also enjoyed playing cards with her card group.
Her loving family includes: husband of 58 years, Kenneth, Burlington;
children, Kimm Schwartz, Ketchikan, AK, Karla Herzig, Burlington; son-in-law, Patrick Murphy, Williston; grandchildren, Lucus Schwartz, Jacob Schwartz, Kenneth Schwartz, Johnna (Vegas) Varty, and Jenna Rose Herzig; sister-in-law, Gloria Mulvihill, Klamath Falls, OR; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as her loving companion cat, Trigger.
Alice Ann was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Murphy; brothers, Frank (Marge) and George Mulvihill; and sister, Lois (Leroy) Flammang; and an infant nephew, Patrick Mulvihill.
Funeral: Saturday, January 1, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Foxholm.
Visitation: Friday from Noon to 5:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service: Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
