Beverly Ann Schaan • 1940 - 2009 Beverly Ann Smith was born on August 18, 1940, a daughter of Leslie and Florence Helen (Irvin) Smith. She was raised and educated in LaCross WI, and Minot ND, graduating from Minot High School. In November 1959 she was united in marriage to Wendell Schaan. To this union four children were born Steven, Stewart, Scott and Sacia. They later divorced. She was an employee of ING as a customer service specialist at the time of her death. Beverly was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in Minot on August 13 of 2008. She received cancer treatment from August to December and underwent a successful surgery in February 2009 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. During her treatment and recovery from surgery, she found comfort, emotional support and a place to temporarily call home at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Minneapolis. She suffered a reoccurance of the Ovarian cancer in March. She returned home to Minot in April of 2009 to be with her family and friends in her final weeks of life. Those who shared her life: Beverly was preceded in death by her son Stewart, sister Dorothy (Smith ) Ness, brother Donald Smith, brother-in-law Orville Ness, sister-in-law Lee Smith, father Leslie, mother Florence Pierce, step-mother Emma Smith, niece Jean Thrailkill , nephew Todd Lubinsky.
