Ann Schaan 1923 - 2004

Ann Schaan, 81, 305-8th Ave. NE, Minot, ND, died Thursday, August 5, 2004, at a Minot nursing home.

Ann Brunner was born on March 30, 1923, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Eisenzimmer) Brunner in Drake, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Drake and Norwich country schools.

Ann was married to Ralph Schaan on April 10, 1945, at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. They made their home near Norwich, ND, until 1953, where they farmed and raised their family. They moved to Deering and farmed until the mid 1960's. Ann was employed by the Minot Air Force Base where she did contract work starting in the early 1960's until retiring in the mid 80's. They then moved to Minot in 1992. Ralph died on March 2, 2003.

Ann was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers circle, Minot, and a former member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Deering.

Ann loved to garden, she was a great cook, and always enjoyed having company over and playing pinochle. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren. Everyone was always welcome in her home.

Surviving family includes: sons: Ralph (Ruth) Schaan of Casper, WY; and Wendell (Geri) Schaan of Mandan, ND; grandchildren: Paul (Amy) Parizek and Cheryl (Joseph) Broderick; and Michael (Jeanette) Schaan, Wade Schaan, and Shawna Schaan and her fiancé, Robert;
8 great-grandchildren: sisters: Amelia Leibham and Helen Deschambault, both of Minot.
numerous nieces, and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Barbara Parizek and son-in-law, Jerry Parizek; grandson, Jami Schaan; brothers, Clem, Joe, Peter, and Sebastian Brunner; sisters, Josie Alvstad, Mary Kuntz, Elizabeth Schmaltz and Lena Brunner.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Monday from Noon until 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, and from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Recitation of Rosary/Vigil Prayer Service: Monday at 7 p.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
