Marie M. Sanford 1910 - 2007 Marie was born on March 9, 1910, in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Ovilla J. and Janice (Melchior) DuPaul. Marie moved to North Dakota in March of 1912 with her parents and one brother. She attended rural school in Ree Township, Viola District and graduated from Donnybrook High School in 1929. Marie attended Minot State Teachers College where she earned her teaching certificate. Marie taught in rural schools for six years. She then worked as a dental hygienist in Minot for 35 years. Marie married Martin Sanford on August 30, 1969, at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot. The couple made their home in Minot. Martin died in 1972. Marie was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and was active with the St. Theresa's Altar Society. She was a past president of the Minot Zonta Club and the North Dakota Dental Hygienists Association. She also gave more than 2000 loyal hours of volunteer service to the Trinity Medical Center. Marie enjoyed gardening, bird watching, playing with her grandchildren and making crafts. Survivors: stepsons, Mark (Gloria) Sanford, Grand Forks, ND and Lynn (Karen) Sanford, Surrey, ND; stepdaughter, Jean (Tim)Homiston, Arnegard, ND; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Martin and four brothers, Eugene, Ted, Ludger, and Francis DuPaul and sister, Gertrude Furstenberg. Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, December 28, 2007, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot Visitation: Thursday, December 27, 2007, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Donnybrook, ND.
