Joyce M. Sand 1936 - 2002 Joyce M. Sand, 66, 1608 10th St. SW, Minot, died Saturday, April 27, 2002, in a Minot hospital. She was born on March 30, 1936, near Emmet, ND, the daughter of Earl and Ernestine (Opp) Krantz. She attended grade school in Emmet, and graduated from Garrison High School in 1954. She continued her education at Minot Business College, concentrating in bookkeeping and accounting. From 1955 to 1969, she went to work as a bookkeeper for the Ward County Treasurers Office. On June 14, 1968, she married Arnold Sand in Minot, where they made their home and she transferred her career to that of wife and mother. She had a special talent with embroidery, sewing and handy work, out of which she made many gifts and keepsakes treasured by her family and friends. Joyce's most distinguishing character traits were her generosity and concern for others above herself. She was ever available for her family, friends and neighbors, simply rejoicing in their company, offering to help when they needed a hand or listening in times of trouble, as she was truly blessed with gifts for empathy and wisdom. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Minot. She portrayed and lived her life as an exemplary model for Christian goals and faith. Her interests included a passion for the activities and events in her family member's lives, a deep love for gospel and bluegrass music, traveling, camping, and in her and Arnold's retirement, spending time at their trailer on Brendle's Bay, Lake Sakakawea. However, her greatest joy was newly found in the treasures title of grandmother to her one-year-old grandson, Jacob.
