Irene Sanders, 92, Minot, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, in a Minot hospital.

Irene N. Sanders was born on May 27, 1916, a daughter of John and Eva (Parris) Carlson in Box Elder, MT. She was raised and educated in Box Elder and Williston, ND.

On November 2, 1933, she was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Sanders in Minot. Following their marriage, they made their home in Waterford Township, where they farmed. During the school year, they lived in Minot from 1950-1962: every summer, returning to the farm.

She enjoyed baking caramel rolls, buns and was well known for her lemon meringue pie.
Irene also was a seamstress, quilter and maker of porcelain dolls. Most recently she mastered the computer, scanning photos and e-mailing her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Children: Donna (Glenn) Vangsness, John (Sandra) Sanders, Judy (Lawrence) Haugen, Daniel (Betty) Sanders, Reuben (Sheila) Sanders, Linda Sanders, K. Joe (Mary Lynn) Sanders, 16 grandchildren: Bruce Vangsness, Brenda Hathaway, Brian Vangsness, Barbara Olson, Craig Sanders, Karla Irvin, Douglas Haugen, Lori Sanders, Cheryl Sanders, Shaun Uleberg, Karen Gullicks, Kevin Sanders, Michael Sanders, Nickolas Mearsha, Jamie Ashby, Rebecca Billingslea, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Eva, four brothers, two sisters two daughters-in-law Judith Wentz-Sanders and Annette Schmidt Sanders, and a special grandson David Haugen.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however people may sign a register book on Thursday from 2 until 7 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Memorial Service: Friday, April 24, 2009 at 2 pm in the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Immediately following the service there will be lunch and fellowship at Irene's home, located at 1600 13 ½ St SW, Minot, a place where friends and family are always welcomed.

Irene's family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. May God bless her memory.
