Frank Salatto 1954 - 2011

Frank Salatto PhotoThe memorial service for Frank Salatto, who died on February 16, 2011 in Minot, ND after a courageous 5 month battle with cancer, and his son Charles, who died on January 16, 2011 in Riverside, CA will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot.

Frank Salatto was born on March 24, 1954 in New Haven, CT, a son of Ralph and Elvira Salatto.  He moved to California in 1956.  He attended St. John Boscow High School where he excelled in sports.  After graduation, he joined the US Air Force and served in Vietnam.  He was then stationed at the Minot Air Force Base, Minot, ND.

Frank married Bonita Vogel on August 6, 1977 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Minot.  He was employed by the Minot Police Department.  In 1985, they moved to LaMirada, CA with their sons Chuck and Robert.  Frank worked for Northrop Grumman and in Black World Security in California.  In 1990, Frank developed scleroderma.  Three years ago, Frank and Bonita moved back to Minot.

Frank enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors.  He said Minot was his favorite place to live.

His loving family includes his wife of 33 years, Bonita, Minot; son, Robert Salatto, Riverside, CA; brother in law, Rick (Brenda) Vogel, Minot; niece, Jessica Vogel, Minot; nephew, Ricky Vogel, Minot; mother in law, Lorraine Vogel, Minot; numerous cousins and his many friends in California and Minot.  He was preceded in death by is son, Chuck, his father in law, Dick Vogel, his guardian aunt Rose Beatifecato and his beloved dog Archie.
